BRIEF HISTORY OF BANNER COUNTY

Banner County became a county in 1889.  Banner, along with Kimball, Morrill, Scotts Bluff and Cheyenne counties, were formed from the original Cheyenne county.  Sidney was the county seat of this large county.

The county seat of Banner county is Harrisburg, the only town in the present day county.  Our neighboring counties are Scotts Bluff to the north, Morrill to the east and Kimball to the south.  Wyoming is at our west border.
